About the Program

The Vocational program is designed to support individuals in their vocational development by identifying their strengths, interests, and areas for growth through a comprehensive vocational assessment. Structured teaching methods, such as task analysis, are employed to impart essential job skills such as following directions, time management, and work completion. Positive reinforcement techniques, such as praise or rewards, are used to encourage desired work behaviors and mitigate challenging behaviors that may hinder job success, such as meeting work goals or displaying appropriate workplace conduct. Individuals may participate in community-based job training programs, such as office internships or working in a supermarket in the community, to gain real-world experience and generalize their skills. Your child will receive support on self-management strategies such as setting vocational goals, monitoring their own behavior, and problem-solving. Social skills development is emphasized through activities that help individuals practice communication skills, workplace etiquette, and appropriate interactions with coworkers and supervisors. Training and support are provided to the parents in order to reinforce new skills and positive behavior at home.
